The Print Shop is proud to announce that 100% of all operations are now being supplied energy through solar power, a fully renewable engery source.  In addition, all of our company owned vehicles are 100% electric and are charged at our production facility using solar power.  We are fortunate to produce enough power for our entire facility and enough to sell back to the Georgia Power grid. We are the first printing company in Savannah and the Low Country to do our part in saving our planet by only using renewable energy.

WHY DID WE DECIDE TO GO "OFF THE GRID"?

We'll that's easy.  We wanted to do our part in reducing our planetary carbon emissions but also take steps to reduce operating costs by utilizing clean energy.  Since the pandemic, businesses across the globe have dealt with supply chain issues, rising costs of goods, higher operating costs and skyrocketing inflation.  Like all companies we have had to incorporate these rising costs in our pricing to customers and we have grown tired of delivering bad news to our clients with each and every quote sent.  We have spent a great deal of time seeking ways to reduce our operating costs though automated equipment purchases, cross-training of employees, renegotiating our supplier pricing and now by eliminating fuel costs and our huge monthly power bill.  We are hopeful that our efforts will stop the rise in prices and ultimately lead to savings for our clients.

WHAT STEPS DID WE TAKE TO GET OFF THE GRID?

First, we had 72 highly efficient solar panels installed on top of our productional facility that will generate over 48,000 kWh of power each year. This is more than enough energy needed to operate our equipment and keep the lights on at The Print Shop.  Second, we purchased Ford's new fully electric E-Transit delivery van that will be charged at our facility using solar energy thus eliminating the need for gasoline fuel for our deliveries.

SOLAR PANEL INSTALLATIONS CAN BE EXPENSIVE, HOW DOES THAT REDUCE OPERATING COSTS?

Solar systems can be pricy to install and sometimes don't really save the end user great amounts of money but that's not the case at The Print Shop.  We were able to take advantage of several U.S. Government Renewable Energy incentives to make the installation extremely affordable.  As part of the Biden Administration's Inflation Reduction Act, the Clean Energy bill reduced the cost of or system by 50% which means it will pay for itself in just a few years.  This will save The Print Shop tens of thousands of dollars each year in fuel and energy costs and allow us to profit from the system by selling energy back to the Georgia Power grid.
